Week of May 26th

As we started off the week with Memorial Day, it was a chance for us to reflect and be grateful for all of the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our country.  Our work stands on their shoulders as they provided us with security, freedom, and choice that we have today to make a difference.

We made up some good ground on preparing to finalize and announce the property this week.  Our salvage quotes came in and we put the finishing touches on our proposal to the city for our plans for the property.   The last step we are waiting for is the Phase I environmental study to come back and then we can see if this is going to be real or not.  Needless to say, we’re a bit excited and anxious at this point.

PrioritiesOur initial proposals have us starting the compost operations immediately so we are really getting the details of that program sorted out and working on the funding details as well as the program details so we will be ready to start.  In doing so, we re-articulated in while I think is a better way our prioritization philosophy and our cause.  We have posted those pages on the website today so you can go look at them.  We would love your feedback on them, positive or negative.

We also received our letter of opinion on our 501(c)3 status this week.  That is a nice one to have on hand to show people while we wait for our official federal status.  If you would like to review it, you can find it posted here.

We ended the week with a good show of support for our friends, Second Harvest, and their annual fund raiser, the Hunger Bowl.  It was a good evening with good folks for a great cause.  I would encourage you to look into all they are doing for our community and helping to end hunger.

That is it for this week.  Please keep the feedback coming and look forward to some more property details and some program details on the compost program in the next few weeks.
