First Meeting of the Board of Directors

It’s official.

We have conducted our first meeting of the board of directors marking the official close of the formation and start up phase.

I’d like to introduce you to the initial board for Farmished.

Dan Wasson
Daniel Wasson
Board Member

Dan is the Vice President Landscape Services Division/Owner of Wasson Nursery.  Daniel has recently become more and more interested in sustainable food systems and farming.  The more reading he has done on the topic the more convinced that someday he should be on a farm.  Farmished is a good way to contribute , help build the local food system and keep a flavor of farming in his life.

Michael O'Donnell
Michael O’Donnell
Board Member

Michael is the Extension Educator, Agriculture & Natural Resources for Purdue Extension, Delaware County.  Michael is also an owner of Pinehurst Farm located in Daleville that produces vegetables, eggs, and chicken using sustainable methods and marketing these goods to the residents of East Central Indiana.  Michael is quite passionate and dedicated to the cause of building a robust sustainable food ecosystem and Farmished was a natural next step to further that cause.

David Ring
Dave Ring
Vice President, Board Member

Dave is co-owner of The Downtown Farm Stand, an organic grocery store, deli, and delivery service that sells food to residents of East Central Indiana.  He is also co-owner of Ring Family Farm and was a full time organic farmer for seven years before opening The Downtown Farm Stand with his wife Sara Ring.  The Downtown Farm Stand purchases food from local organic farmers and other quality organic companies and provides access to inner city consumers and all of East Central Indiana.  The mission of Farmished aligns well with Dave’s work thus far and to him, this kind of non profit is the next step in continuing to create a local food system in East Central Indiana.

Michael Wolfe
Michael Wolfe
Founder.  President, Chairman of the Board

Michael is the CTO for Ontario Systems.  Originally from a small hobby farm in southern Johnson County, Michael has experimented with sustainable agriculture in recent years in the form of vermiculture, hydroponics, aeroponics, and aquaponics.  After becoming a big fan of Joel Salatin, Will Allen and others with their passion and love for restoring farming and farmland, Michael was able to participate in the Down to Earth seminar and interact with a whole new generation of college students that have a strong passion for the same.  Forming Farmished was the next logical step to bring the community from where it is today to one with a thriving sustainable, local food economy.

In addition to making the board and officers official we were able to approve our bylaws and take care of many other matters in order to prepare for business.  We are still waiting on filing for our tax exempt status as the legal review continues but hopefully that will be underway soon.    We also discussed several other board member candidates that we will be approaching to join us so look for this group to expand soon.

Thank you for your kind support and please welcome the board!
