This week was pretty busy! First, we had our initial board meeting and elected the board and officers among other things. We received some promising news both from the legal front and on the land front this week as well. Keep an eye out for updates on both of those next week.
We are doing some research on farmer’s markets and the correlation of their policies and procedures regarding producer only goods as well as adoption of home vendors to their success and the success of their local community food system. We will publish that on our site when it is complete. That research will help influence our producer support program at the farmer’s market.
Meetings for the week included two good sessions. One with Mary McDaniel who gave us some great insight on where to find good help and motivated volunteers for the cause which we will need in the coming weeks. The other one was with David Ferguson and resulted in a lot of additional information on what else is going on related to Farmished in the community as well as another non profit that we might be able to work close with, Inside Out.
It was a pretty good week and things have certainly picked up. I’m looking forward to our meetings already planned for this week and hope to report some great news!
Have a good one.
